An early start for this one saw us leave Nottingham at 7.55a.m. for the winding road to Wigan. We arrived in Leigh for a pre match drink at 10.45 giving us 3 hours in the town before setting off down the road for the 7 mile journey to the ground.
After a few in Wetherspoon’s, we settled in at The White Lion.
It was here that the Chairman’s depression set in upon hearing The Smith’s on the jukebox.
How soon is kick off was the question on the bus as we got stuck in traffic on the motorway, despite arriving 10 minutes late we were quickly informed by fellow supporters that we hadn’t missed anything, indeed there wasn’t much to see apart from Alex Mowatt’s right foot shot that gave us the three points. To make up for us missing the start of the game the referee kindly added 7 minutes of extra time.
There’s more to life than football you know………………..but not much more, oh you…………
